How we make money
How Life Adviser makes money
Life Adviser is free for you to use. We are an introducer: we do not give advice and we do not arrange insurance policies. Here is exactly how it works and how we are paid, in plain English.
Free to use
Who pays us
Who we introduce you to
The short version
Life Adviser does not charge you anything. We do not give advice and we do not arrange insurance policies.
If we introduce you to an adviser firm, it will be one FCA-authorised firm or one of its appointed representatives. That firm gives any advice and arranges any cover. It pays us a fee for the introduction, and you pay nothing extra because of it.
What happens today
When you send us an enquiry, we may pass it to one FCA-authorised adviser firm, or one of its appointed representatives, that can help with it. We find that firm through Protection Connect, our own system for introducing enquiries to adviser firms. The firm will tell you who it is when it contacts you. If no firm can take your enquiry when you send it, we may still pass it to one that can in the 30 days after you send it. Our privacy policy explains what we share and why.
What Life Adviser does, and does not do
- We explain life insurance. Our guides and calculators help you understand the types of cover and what affects the price. They are general information, not advice.
- We may introduce you to one FCA-authorised firm or one of its appointed representatives. That firm will tell you who it is when it contacts you.
- We do not give advice or arrange policies. Life Adviser does not itself compare or recommend insurance policies. We may introduce you to one FCA-authorised adviser firm, or one of its appointed representatives. That firm can compare life insurance products and quotes from the insurers available to it and provide any advice or arrange any cover. The range of insurers considered depends on the adviser firm’s panel and may not include the whole market.
Who gives advice and arranges cover
If we introduce you to an adviser firm, any advice about your cover, and the arranging of any policy, comes from that firm, not from Life Adviser. You can check any firm on the FCA register. Under the FCA’s rules, including the Consumer Duty, firms must act to deliver good outcomes and fair value for their customers.1

Does it cost you more?

What we do with your details
- We may pass your details to one FCA-authorised adviser firm or one of its appointed representatives. That firm will tell you who it is when it contacts you, and is then responsible for your details under its own privacy notice.
- We keep your enquiry for 2 years and then delete it, or sooner if you ask us to, unless we have to keep something by law.
- You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time.
The full detail of what we collect, why, and your rights is set out in our privacy policy. If you ever want to reach a real person, our contact page is the place to start.
